My Intended. Blogcation.

As some personal prioritized deadlines approach I feel a strong need to vacate from "this" space temporarily to give my undivided attention to my real live life tasks at hand. Over the next few months I'll be...

  • Finalizing what's necessary to secure my eldest daughter's college admission, registration for classes and her big move out of state.
  • Making the necessary preparations for her birthday/prom big bang event.
  • Studying intensely about the organization I'm now employed by to further secure my position.
  • Packing to put some "things" in storage.
  • Disposing of many "things" that just don't need to follow us into our new place.
  • Finding/securing a suitable location/place where we'll make "it" our new home.
  • Moving into our new place and making "it" a home.
  • Amongst other "things" unnamed at "this" present moment.

So, to those "that" do check in here to see what's new in my world, you'll have to check out my archives during the meanwhile as I take care of family business as head of my household. I shall return in due time with some new updates and more interesting stories, than I can share now. If no one tells you and you're not feeling any of "it" know "that" I love you as you are and accept you totally for who you may become, whether I've actually met you or not. Your presence here is enough to warrant my acknowledgement and general respect for the time you took to read my dear blog.

No Theme. For April.

I'm returning back to my randomness effective now. Part of me wants to abandon ship here... Again. My other parts say keep moving forward without any unnecessary pressure, but don't leave "this" precious blog to just sit unattended to. When I log into my blog sometimes I wonder how I allowed an entire year to pass without posting one single entry during the year of 2013.

I mean, for me to go from posting daily on weekdays, to writing absolutely nothing for a consistent 365 days doesn't really make clear sense. Of course, the bottom line is I just didn't want to, but how much do I have on my agenda daily, "that" I just don't want to do, yet "it" still has to get done? Let's just say "it" is much.

So, "I can" push beyond the lack of motivation I'm feeling today. "It" is simply, just a moment in time. One little moment which will pass. If I'm blessed to return here tomorrow, I'll be glad "that" I did "this." I know myself and tonight I'm encouraging myself to proceed further with "this" blog of mine.

One More. Visual Beauty.

I didn't forget to add "this" beauty. I just didn't have any recent photos to use so I sent her a text to request one from her. See her fine chocolicious self now as she gets my blog all to herself today, too.

My Black History: Day 19.

Quotes I've heard in the sanctuary... Elsewhere too.

"If HE brought you to it, HE will bring you through it!"

"Ain't nobody like the GOD I serve."

"Can't nobody do me like JESUS!!!"

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."

-Proverbs: 3:5-6

Text taken from the Bible.

I don't know where my mother cut out this scripture from, but it sits in the same place where she left it in her bedroom, which I utilize now. Growing up attending church, we memorized many scriptures. I only remember a few now and "this" one is my motto. I'm forever grateful, that my mama taught me the best lesson ever, which is to praise the LORD and to acknowledge Him in all my ways. I really don't know where I'd be without my faith in the LORD JESUS CHRIST!!!

My Black History: Day 15.

If there's any Black celebrity or public figure I'd like to honor during this blog series, it's the late Johnny L. Cochran, Jr.

Of course, I remember the infamous OJ Simpson trial, however, what's an even better recollection of mine regarding "this" great lawyer, is the fact that he was a commencement speaker at my high school graduation.

I didn't graduate from a traditional high school. I graduated from Maxine Waters Employment Preparation Center in 1997; two years later than I should've, but still, I did "it."

Another personal tie to "this" Black greatness of a human being is "that" my eldest daughter graduated from a middle school, which was renamed after him called Johnny L. Cochran. Jr. Middle School.
...I'll have to go on a hunt through my old photos, that were printed almost 20-years ago to find one of him at the podium speaking on "that" high achievement day.

Living & Caring. Loving & Sharing.

Last week, while I was organizing some items I found a white board I had forgotten about. I decided to hang it up on the wall in our hallway, which connects our two bedrooms and bathroom. Initially, I was going to allow my youngest daughter to use it as her personal drawing board.

After observing how my daughters were competing with one another erasing what the other drew and personalizing their stuff with their signatures, I decided "that" the board should be used for a better purpose. A few days ago, I erased the board and wrote the following.

"Do not write on this white board unless you buy your own dry-erase markers or make a contribution towards the purchase of one." I'm so much like my mother. Laughing within.

I told my girls, that they were being wasteful by doodling on the board and if they wanted to continue doing "that" they'll have to furnish their own markers. Come on. I only have two. Yes, I said I. It's mine and I was simply sharing it with them. Seriously.

So, on my youngest daughter's birthday, I took it upon myself to erase my bold statement and created a happy birthday message on the board for her to see as soon she got up "that" morning. Would you know, I had to bring it to her attention first? Apparently, she was on the hunt searching for presents and completely overlooked my sweet and thoughtful art-piece.

I wish that I could post a picture of "it," but due to my lack of self-control the other day with my old iPhone, the picture is irretrievable because it was taken with "that" phone. Dang "it."

The morning after my daughter's birthday she erased my birthday message and drew her own thank you message. A complete disregard to my new rule, but what monster would enforce such upon a kind-thinking 10-year old? So, I let it be, but then of course my eldest had "something" to say about "it."

I came up with a better solution for the white board display in our home. I told my daughters, that we should be posting uplifting quotes & statements on "it." Some "thing" we can all read and appreciate; possibly carry with us throughout our day and perhaps, share with others. My eldest took the lead the same night I had my meltdown and decided to write out a positive quote referencing how we have the freedom to choose between being a prisoner of our pasts or be pioneers of our future.

I told her I had heard "that" quote before and she tried to take credit, but it's still a great start because it kept me thinking. Positively. The next day my youngest posted her own quote suggesting that we do something to help someone. We have a little momentum building with "this." I posted my own quote last night as today's statement. See below.

More. Less!

I missed blogging yesterday. It's on my mind now "to do" so.

So here "I am."

For a brief moment.

Still Writing. It's Wednesday!!!

How lovely it is to return here on my favorite day of the week: Wednesday. I can feel the momentum building deeply within me as I get into a new rhythm expressing myself in words. Writing is one of my gifts. One, I've been aware of most of my life, but do I love it?

Well, I do. Although, my former actions haven't really demonstrated a passion for it. Being shamefully-honest, I haven't really demonstrated a true passion for anything consistently, other than proving my righteousness when I'm being challenged or when I'm exerting physical energy.

I was reminded by a recent situation where my eldest daughter and I weren't seeing eye to eye, that my desire to be right and to win can cause more hurt than help in some instances. I had so much to say and so did she.

In our communicative manner addressing the problem, we both knew, that it wasn't helping us come to any resolve during our disagreement. It wasn't until we exchanged some pretty descriptive emails over the following days when I realized, that my daughter had said a whole lot more than I actually heard, while in the heat of our dispute.

As my eldest daughter finishes high school and becomes a legal adult just 5-months from now, there are levels of maturity, that I find necessary to exercise. We both can't be brats, while trying to work through challenges together. Yes, she's almost an adult, but she'll have to experience life as an adult before she can really see life through my lens. Stepping into battles about what life is with my teenage daughter is foolish on my part.

So, I've learned!

To demonstrate is much better than any explanation alone. Blessed with the gift of gab, I can speak to no end about what I feel is right, omitting no details. I've discovered, that a percentage of what I say just will not be remembered. By myself or the listener. I want my words and messages to stick; to remain as Top of Mind Awareness (TOMA) in people, that I speak to. Especially, when I'm talking with my daughters.

It is better, that I write out what I want remembered. The impact of revisiting what I've written prior, is just as effective and personally touching as it was when those words were only thoughts present in my mind. It's a real treasure to reread where I've been, to reminisce on past experiences, and to be reminded about the challenging situations I've overcome.

I have begun the change with the woman in the mirror; being me.

May my Heavenly Father continue to further develop and shape me as a leader in "this" life's journey as I take action "to do" more than just talk about it!!!

So I'm... Finally back!

Before I explain why I abandoned my blog for so long I need to write a letter to my present self...

"Appearance can be deceitful."
Dear Ms. Lampkin,

I love you and I miss you living within the present. You don't have to continue recycling old thoughts, stressing about your future, nor do you have to feel guilty about the total woman you are now. Rid yourself completely from acting off of the influence of others. Be very careful with whom and where you lend your time and how you spend your hard earned income. You are special. Not everyone is worthy of your personal attention, affection and time. I know you've felt bad about that, but no more.

GOD has blessed you with two beautiful daughters whom your influence directly impacts. Focus more on what they need from you versus the world. They're intelligent and respectable young ladies who believe in and love their mom. Embrace that with each passing moment. They're growing up quickly and there's no reversing the chronological order of age.

You are more than just okay. You're awesome! Make yourself remember that daily by the moment. Time isn't getting ahead of you. Your thoughts are, so slow down and turn all that thinking into action. "We're on information overload," says your brain cells. There's nothing more you need to do to prove to yourself or anyone else how intelligent you are. Overtime you've become a wonderful actress... (giggling to myself).

Remember some of your best roles?
  • Happy mom: You put on your best face most days for your children regardless how you really feel.
  • Caring daughter: You show concern for your mom even though she's your most challenging person to deal with.
  • Sweet niece: You are available to your aunts and uncle when they call upon you and you show up with glee.
  • Fun cousin: You bring the entertainment by simply being you.
  • Best friend: Your inner circle knows you as a rock, someone trustworthy and truly there when needed.
  • Employee: You carry yourself with such professionalism people believe you're in a position of authority and rely upon your due diligence in every area.
  • BPT Editor: You use your education and skills to create awareness and to highlight relevant information to the entire congregation.
  • Single woman: You stand strong against all odds and can depend on yourself.
  • Inner little girl: You possess a sweet innocence untainted by your adult experiences.
  • Human: You care about ALL mankind and naturally interact well with all cultures.
Please promise to never again forget who you are and all the greatness within you. Also, be willing to share and open yourself to new interactions and possibilities. You've got precaution down to a science and you don't have to fear or worry about ANYTHING. GOD has you. He always has. You know this, now live and own it!!!

Love Always,

Your True Self

Well? Well.

My children and I handled some business today. We were blessed to receive "something" our household needs and has been hoping for. I now have the means to pay some bills. Yes LORD!!!

Well. :)

We went to visit an old friend of mine and her children. The very same friend that I "cut-off" a little over a month ago. If I'm not mistaken I said, "I no longer desire to share a history with her." Something similar if not my exact words. Hmm... So much to say "sometimes."

Well? :/

It was so GREAT seeing them today! We all LOVE each other. That's a fact. I guess we can't all always get along nor will we all always agree about everything...

I'm grateful for being able to move on and get over "it." My youngest daughter was annoying me these past few weeks by continuing to ask when was I going to apologize to my friend. Well, I did. We discussed "it" and agreed that I'll remain blocked from her FB page. I can live with "that" and I don't LOVE her any less.

Well. ;)
